Attendance

  • There will be one general membership meeting every month

  • Members will receive one point for every meeting attended.

  • A member may miss one meeting per semester without being penalized (upon the second absence, members will be deducted a point per meeting).

  • It is the responsibility of the general member to ensure that his or her attendance is recorded at the meetings

  • Members that arrive after the meeting has begun will not receive a point for attendance, but will not be deducted a point provided the member stays for the meeting and gets his/her attendance recorded

  • Points

  • Each member must earn 20 points per semester, with the exception of the spring semester (Seniors - 15, Juniors - 20, Babies - 10)

  • 1 hour equals 1 point on all service projects

  • Each member is allowed a maximum of 5 drive points with the exception of the spring semester (Seniors - 5, Juniors - 5, Babies - 2)

  • Each member is allowed a maximum of 5 personal points with the exception of the spring semester (Seniors - 0, Juniors - 5, Babies - 2)

  • Each member must participate in at least 3 NHS projects per semester

Personal problems

  • There will be no personal points earned during the summer

  • Personal points are due the day of the last day of the semester

  • Personal points can only be turned in once

  • There will be no carry over points allowed

  • Probation, Dismissal, and Appeals

  • National Honor Society member may be put on probation for the following three reasons:

  • Failure to earn twenty points during any semester

  • Failure to pay dues in the fall semester

  • Failure to maintain a 3.6 cumulative grade point average

  • Failure to participate in at least three NHS projects per semester.

probation Rules

  • ​During the probationary period, which will last one semester, the member must complete the requirements for that semester as well as make up for his or her probation

  • If a National Honor Society member is on probation for more than one semester, he or she will be dismissed

  • Any National Honor Society up for dismissal may appeal the dismissal to the National Honor Society Faculty Council

  • Appeals are due one week from the notification of the dismissal

  • Appeals must be typed and turned in to the sponsor

  • Upon review, the Faculty Council may uphold or overturn the dismissal
